Pia as a Teacher

I am a yoga student and a yoga teacher,

at the beginnings of a journey and life in the world of yoga.

I was introduced to yoga at the age of 10, when my Mum got cancer, she began mediation and yoga practices. Over the years I joined in with yoga nidhra, yoga retreats, and hatha classes. As I grew up I increasingly became aware of what I felt to be injustices in the world, and also became increasingly interested in Buddhism as an older teenager, resonating and practicing the teachings of Buddhism.

Since then I have had many journeys in life and yoga, part of which has lead me to entering into being a Hatha Yoga teacher. Learning and completing my first 200 hour certificate at Himalayan Yogini School of Yoga in Nepal, and currently continuing my training in 300 Hour Sacred Seeds School in nipaluna (Hobart). I have also practiced Ashtanga, and Iyengar and massively appreciate these styles too. I am a beginner teacher and always a student, I teach from my heart and introduce you to yoga practices that I hope can offer you as much as it is offering me. Yoga has helped me gain knowledge and insight about myself, which I couldn’t have known or realised before, this helps me in my relationships, choices and experience of life.

The practices of yoga have helped to widen, and deepen my awareness of myself and of life. That life is constant, it is forever changing, and through continuing my practice I become increasingly humbled and empowered. So for any who are interested in learning practices that help you evolve as a being: spiritually, mentally and physically I offer to you what I have learnt so far. Personally I value gentleness and believe all in the world could do with a little more kind energy, so I am teaching with the Hatha yoga style a balance of compassion and awareness. As a teacher I will adapt to each student and their needs πŸ™πŸ½ and most importantly encourage each student to listen to their own be-ing.

Introduction to Hatha Yoga πŸ™πŸ½

Hatha Yoga is about bringing two opposing energies together into harmony.

The teachings of Hatha Yoga offer a story about Shiva and Pravati, a story about awareness and compassion. Lord Shiva is said to have been the original founder of yoga, he is the father and first teacher of yogic science (awareness). Goddess Parvati is the mother, she learnt the knowledge and science of yoga and meditation from her husband Shiva, he shared all he had learnt with Parvati. Shiva had only wanted and intended to share his secrets of yoga with Parvati, perceiving that humans would not be able to understand or respect the cosmic powers uncovered by yogic practice, however Parvati saw that many were suffering and from her heart she felt to share the secret sciences which could release others of their suffering (compassion).

Ha (Ha-tha) represents Shiva the divine masculine, which include: Awareness, the Sun, Day, Yang energy, Control, Order, Activity, Right side of the body, and the Cosmic energy.

Tha (ha-Tha) represents Parvati (also known as Shakti) the divine feminine, which include: Compassion, the Moon, Night, Yin energy, Receptivity, Untamed, Passive, Left side of the body, and Kundalini energy.

5 Major Limbs of Hatha Yoga

1. Asana’s – Postures

2. Pranayama – Vital Energy

3. Bandha – Chakra/Energy Locks

4. Mudra – Gesture (symbolic way one places their hand to meditate)

5. Dhyan – Meditation

Yoga Lessons

I offer a range of different yoga sessions to suit you.
Length of a yoga class can range from 30 minutes to 3 hours long, depending on your needs.

I live in nipaluna (Hobart), on the Island of lutruwita (Tasmania), Australia and can meet you personally or if we don’t physically live in the same area I am also happy to teacher via Zoom πŸ™πŸ½

I start my sessions with meditation and prayer or tuning in with your intention for the practice, I will then guide you through asanas (postures) and we will end with final relaxations, and gratitude of the practice πŸ™πŸ½

For an hour one-on-one I offer sliding scale depending on your financial space:
$35 an hour session and $5 every half an hour after this. (for financially secure)
$25 an hour session and $5 every half an hour after this. (financially numbers are low)

I am also open to trade system, this is beautiful and important to be clearly discussed with me and agreed with before our session.

For those unfamiliar with the trade or offering system, in return for a yoga class there is an offering made which can come in all sorts of forms, it is up to you to feel out what you think feels right to offer. You may offer something you have made, or perhaps you feel to donate money, but all that matters is that you offer something you feel in balance for the session, an intention of gratitude for receiving so the energy is flowing both ways for both of us and is balanced out with awareness that we are both giving and receiving in kind πŸ™πŸ½

I also am an Art Therapist and offer sessions in Art Therapy you can access more information about Art as Therapy at artshealingheart.wordpress.com
